Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Amen.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for me to serve in the field, especially in Nias. I accept this new challenge as the fulfillment of my great dream to help God's churches grow in Indonesia, both when I was a supervisor at the dormitory and when I was directly involved in evangelism.
Here are some of the tasks I carried out in July 2025.
Taking my wife to the hospital
Tuesday, July 1, 2025. In the morning, my wife experienced some discomfort with her health. Since she was feeling this way, I took her to Bethesda Hospital for a pregnancy check-up. Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctor informed my wife and me that it was time for her to give birth. At that point, we faced some challenges regarding the costs we needed to cover for the Eracs surgery, as my wife couldn’t give birth naturally due to the baby’s poor position. The doctor then decided to perform the Eracs surgery. My wife and I returned home to seek a solution because we faced the challenge of funding the Eracs surgery costs. Praise God! Through the prayers and blessings of the donors, assistance was provided for my wife’s surgery, ensuring that both my wife and our baby were safe. Thank you for the assistance and prayers from the donors of the boarding school foundation. May God bless everyone.
Operating Room
Thursday, July 3, 2025. At 9:00 PM, my wife entered the operating room with the doctors to undergo an Eracs procedure performed by an obstetrician-gynecologist. I offered to accompany my wife into the operating room to help her feel less afraid. Initially, the nurses did not allow me to enter the operating room with my wife. My wife then asked the obstetrician-gynecologist for permission for me to enter. Then the nurses called me outside the operating room door to accompany my wife. The surgery began, and my feelings were mixed as I entered the operating room, fearing that something we didn’t want to happen might occur. Praise God! The surgery was completed in about an hour, although our baby had to be taken to the neonatal unit for care because he had swallowed amniotic fluid due to the delayed surgery. We are deeply grateful to God for His blessings and grace through our beloved little baby. Thank you for the prayers and financial support from the donors of the Dasami Foundation. Thank you for the prayer visits from the colleagues of the Dasami Foundation and the servants of God from the Church of Christ in Gunungsitoli.
Welcoming New Boarding School Students
Monday, July 14, 2025, the supervisors gathered at the church building to welcome the new students to the Dasami dormitory. To kick off the event, the supervisors first introduced themselves to the Dasami dormitory students. Then, the new students introduced themselves to the supervisors with the aim of getting to know each individual better and building closer relationships with the students. All the students come from different villages. We pray that they all succeed both in their academic pursuits and spiritually.
Boarding School Activities
Wednesday, July 16, 2025. I invited all boarding school students to clean the boarding school environment on the first and second floors. All the students were very enthusiastic about participating in the dormitory activities. Before starting the activities, I gathered the students to inform them about what needed to be cleaned in the dormitory, including: the water well, drainage ditches, pulling weeds, cleaning the iron fence, doors, laundry area, bedrooms, and bathrooms. All these activities went smoothly thanks to the students' cooperation. We continue to carry out these activities every month to maintain the cleanliness of the dormitory environment.
Wednesday, July 23, 2025. The students once again carried out environmental cleaning activities in the dormitory, including: sweeping the laundry area floor, sweeping the bathroom, sweeping the terrace, sweeping the rice washing area floor, cleaning the water drains, cleaning the windows, doors, and fences. These activities were carried out with great enthusiasm and ran smoothly thanks to the assistance and cooperation of the students. I am pleased to see the students' enthusiasm for participating in these activities. We continue to conduct dormitory environmental cleanup activities every month to maintain the cleanliness and comfort of the dormitory environment.
Prayer Visit
Friday, July 18, 2025. The supervisors and evangelists paid a prayer visit to the wife of one of the dormitory supervisors, Brother A. Linda, whose wife had been hospitalized for three days. I only heard about this after my wife’s surgery at the hospital. We then visited Brother A. Linda’s place to pray for his wife and offer support for her speedy recovery. We hope she remains healthy and can resume her activities soon. May God bless her!
Hospital Visit
Friday, July 18, 2025. After finishing a prayer visit to the wife of my dormitory supervisor colleague, I received information from the family that my uncle's wife was temporarily in the hospital undergoing Eracs surgery. I then went to the hospital to visit them. Amidst the busyness of caring for my wife and our newborn baby, I made time to assist them at the hospital. Praise the Lord! The surgery went smoothly, and both the mother and baby are safe. We pray for their swift recovery.
Student Bible Class
Wednesday, July 23, 2025. My schedule for teaching Bible classes to third-year students and college students. This July, I have eight sessions to teach Bible classes. I am grateful for the opportunity given to me to teach, as it is an opportunity for me to grow spiritually and delve deeper into God’s Word. In the Bible class, there are approximately 24 students and university students, and the majority of them belong to various denominations. I enjoy teaching them about the Bible because each student has a unique approach to studying it. My greatest hope is that they will come to know the truth more deeply and be willing to make the decision to be baptized. I pray that they will be given open hearts to grow spiritually and draw closer to God.
Monday, July 28, 2025. I taught a Bible class to new students at the dormitory. This was my first time teaching a Bible class to new students. There were 22 students in total. I enjoyed teaching them because each student had their own unique characteristics. I hope that this Bible class will help them to better understand the truth of God's word. In addition to teaching Bible classes, I sometimes give Bible quizzes to test their knowledge of general facts in the Bible.
Wednesday, July 30, 2025. My schedule for teaching Bible class to third-grade students and college students. This July, I teach on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. I teach Bible class to boarding school students and college students. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach, as it is a chance for me to grow spiritually and delve deeper into God’s Word. In the Bible class, there are approximately 26 students and college students, and most of them come from various denominations. I enjoy teaching them about the Bible because each student has unique qualities that make their approach to studying the Bible distinct. My greatest hope is that they may come to know the truth more deeply and be willing to make the decision to be baptized. I pray that they may be given open hearts to grow spiritually and draw closer to God.
Bible Quiz
This is a Bible quiz activity for first-year students. In addition to teaching Bible material, I give them Bible quizzes with the aim of making the class more exciting without being boring. I divide them into four groups, named Simeon, Reuben, Benjamin, and Issachar. This Bible quiz is based on general facts found in the Bible. The quiz offers prizes for the winners as a reward for their hard work in studying the general facts in the Bible. The students were very active and enthusiastic in answering every question given to them. I was happy to see the cooperation between groups in this Bible quiz. We pray that they will grow spiritually and come to know more about the truth of God's word.
Wednesday, July 30, 2025. This is a Bible quiz activity for high school students and college students. Before teaching the Bible material, I give them a Bible quiz with the aim of making the class more interesting and less boring. I divide them into four groups: Efrat, Tigris, Gihon, and Pison. This Bible quiz is based on the book of Ruth, chapters 1-4. The quiz offers prizes to the winners as a reward for their hard work in studying general facts from the Bible, particularly the book of Ruth. The students were very active and enthusiastic in answering each question. I was pleased to see the cooperation among the groups during the Bible quiz. We pray that they will grow spiritually and come to know the truth of God’s Word more deeply.
Dormitory Night Devotion
Our regular activities before going to bed at night and waking up in the morning are praying and reading the Bible together with the students. Each student takes turns praying and reading the Bible. I am pleased with this practice, as it helps them develop the habit of praying and reading the Bible, since many of them still struggle with praying and reading the Bible fluently. This moment is an opportunity for the students to practice. The number of male students in the Anggrek B dormitory is 21.
Presentation of Bible Certificates
Friday, July 25, 2025. This is the moment when written Bible certificates are distributed to students who have completed lessons 1-7 on seeking the truth. All students have performed well and correctly. The distribution of these Bible certificates is an appreciation for their hard work in participating in the written Bible course. The students received the Bible certificates with joy and gratitude for being guided to understand God’s Word well. There are 13 first-year students who have received these certificates. They are not members of the Church of Christ. I hope they will grow spiritually and one day receive God’s Word sincerely. Amen!
Praise Singing Class
Saturday, July 26, 2025. Every Sunday evening, there is a singing practice class for new students, along with some children from the orphanage joining the singing class. The purpose of this class is to train the new students who have just entered the dormitory to learn the praise songs sung every week at the Church of Christ in Gunungsitoli. This class is held every Sunday evening. May this training class help the students to participate in worship and worship in spirit and truth.
Service Training Class
Saturday, July 26, 2025. After finishing the singing practice with the students for about half an hour, I continued with the servant training class for the students at the orphanage. Since some of them had already been participating in Sunday services, such as leading spiritual praise, leading the Lord's Supper, collecting offerings, praying, and delivering the church bulletin, this activity continued every Sunday evening.
Teaching Bible Prospects
Saturday, July 26, 2025. In the afternoon, I taught the prospects using the method of seeking truth from lessons 1-6. From lessons 1-6, they gained a lot from the lessons because they had not received them before. When we got to lesson 6 on “Baptism,” they were very enthusiastic about learning more about baptism. From the material, they had many questions they wanted to ask, and I answered all of them using the Bible. At the end of the lesson, they were very happy and decided to be baptized. I was very happy with the decision they made together, Brother Wajib and Sister Lina. May they continue to grow in their faith in God. Praise the Lord!
Prospect Baptism Ceremony
Sunday, July 27, 2025. After I finished teaching the Bible using the truth-seeking method 1-6 to the prospects. Praise God! They made the decision to be baptized. The name of this prospective believer is Nduru. He is a member of the Christian congregation and has not yet been baptized. He is currently in his third year of high school in Gunungsitoli. The baptism ceremony was held on Sunday after the worship service. I am delighted with the decision they made and hope that their faith in God will continue to grow.
Luke 15:10 (KJV) Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. On Sunday, two people submitted themselves to be baptized. The name of this prospect is Ferlina Gulo, currently a first-year vocational school student in Gunungsitoli. I have taught this prospect the Bible using the method of seeking truth from lessons 1-6. We hope that they will grow in their faith in God.
Worship Services at Gido
Sunday, July 27, 2025. In the afternoon, after finishing the worship service and baptism ceremony in Gunungsitoli, I immediately left for Gido to conduct a worship service for Mama Depi and her two children. The journey to Gido takes approximately one hour round trip. I am delighted to undertake this noble work, and I pray that Mama Depi’s family continues to be blessed and grows spiritually. I informed Mama Depi that if there are people in the Gido area who wish to join the worship service, they are welcome to do so, as this is an opportunity for us to share the Gospel with them. May there be souls who choose to join us in Gido.
New Believers Bible Class
After the service, there was a special Bible class for new converts with the topic, “firm faith.” This lesson was designed specifically for new converts who had just been baptized. Hopefully, this lesson will help them to continue to grow spiritually.
Mama Depi and her two children discussed with me that they wanted to join worship in Gunungsitoli. However, I responded to this information by suggesting that they continue to worship in Gido, in case there were people around Gido who wanted to join worship. We prayed that there would be souls who would open their hearts to receive the gospel of Christ, especially around Gido.
Submitting a Baptism Certificate
After the Bible class was over, I gave Mama Depin her baptism certificate. They were very happy to have the certificate in case they needed it in the future. I am happy to see their spiritual growth and their extraordinary commitment and enthusiasm to continue worshipping God. We pray for Mama Depi and her four children that they will continue to be blessed by God. Mama Depi and her child expressed their deep gratitude to me for teaching them about the Word of God, enabling them to make the decision to be baptized because of their understanding of the Word of God.
This is my work report for July 2025. May God's grace always be with me as I carry out my missionary work in Nias. And may souls be saved. Amen.
I kindly request prayers, support, and assistance from donors to support my missionary work in Nias, alongside my role as supervisor of the Dasami dormitory. May God bless the donors and fellow believers of the Church of Christ in America.
